I am trying to restore a file. I make my selection, click the restore button and get the following message "The default restore target could not be found. Please select one using the browse button". I then use the browse button and get "No agents or devices were found to be compatible with your current restore selections." Entering a restore location manually does not work either.

This is Backup Exec 8.5 on NetWare 5.1 in a single server environment. Backup Exec seems to be restoring every night with no problem.

It has been a while since I worked with Backup Exec but I am pretty sure I am performing these actions correctly. It is as though there is no agent loaded on the server but TSA500.NLM is definitely loaded.

Can you give more information about what you are trying to restore and where you are trying to restore it to?

From what you have given us, it appears you are trying to restore a file to a remote machine and may not have the Remote Agent installed.

This problem has been more or less resolved. The person I am substituting for came in and tried the restore from another client PC and it worked. Apparently only my workstation is unable to see either the backup or restore agents running on the server so I am just going to uninstall and reinstall the client on this PC.

Thanks for your quick response.
