System HD went wierd and wouldn't boot the other day, managed to copy it's contents to another drive (just into a folder) using Mini WinPE.

Want to restore to a new drive now, do I have to do anything other than copy the contents back over? FixMBR needed or anything like that to get it booting? (Obviously I'm gonna make a primary partition and set it active).

Thanks!

Bill.

You don't say what operating system was on the HDD that "went weird". Nor what kind of partition it was - FAT, FAT32, NTFS? Did you copy over hidden system files?

Thanks G0AOZ, apologies for the lack of info, it was WinXP and all is well now! Cheers..
