Hi...I have a single-purpose server which has failed, that was running Windows 2000. I have the entire box backed up using BE 8.6, which is installed on our Active Directory Domain Controller. How do I get that box back online? Do I load Windows 2000 on it fresh, and get it back on the network and then tell BE to restore that box, and what will it do when it tries to restore Windows files that are in use because the OS is running?

I've never had to restore a whole box before, any help welcome!

Thank-you.

First you will restore the operating system. Restore it to a work group, not the domain. You need to get the c: drive up and running first. Then get it on the domain and add the rest of the drives and data. It should take you a couple of restores. Don't try to put it all back at one time on the domain. I have tried it won't work.
