Hi

I am trying to take a tape from one Commserve and import it into another Commserve.2 seperate sites.
I can read and catalog the tape via Media Explorer, but I cannot see a way in which the tape can be fully imported and restoreable via the standard client browse interface - in the Commcell Console, i.e add it into the index cache, if this is possible of course.

Thanks

Hi

What is your setup?
Have you definately got 2 CommServes handling their own Media Agents?
Why do you need to use a different CommCell to restore the data?

As far as I know you can't use the 'restore from anywhere' method from different commcells.

Problem is that all the data history info that you are trying to import from the media is held at the original CommCell with the new CommCell having no history within it's db.

You can temporarily merge the client into the new CommCell using the qoperation cmd to capture the metadata but, you also need a migration license.

Easiest way probably is to just restore the data to a temp location using the original CommServe and then back it up with the new CommCell.

Yes 2 seperate Commcells in seperate countries. Ideally yes the sites would be part of the same Commcell.

The links between sites will not allow a restore and backup from the alternate Commcell.

I will look into the qoperation command.

Thanks
