I'm trying to restore a file from my backup. but it takes long time to read a tape, I've been running the restore for 60Hrs. Does anybody have encountered this problem any help will be appriciated.

Thanks

What was the server parallelism when the backup was taken, was this the only tape? How many target sessions were written to the tape?
Also, what type of tape is it and what savesets are on it? Which is the one you want back?

Make sure that the 'knows EOD' bit is set in st.conf. If this is not set and you are using tape drives that support fast locates, then the whole tape will be read to locate each file.

hi,

TDUN- server parallelism is 4. there are 4 tapes on it and it just finish one tape. type of Tape DLT 7000. and NT saveset. and it only two directory. D:\Vol1\USER.

TAPEMAN- How can I set the EOD on my st.conf. also my st.conf is located at /kernel/drv is that the right st.conf.

thanks,
