Restore Problems: Help Requested - BE 8.0 Adv Srv

Recently, I've run into some trouble restoring my backups. I can Inventory and Catalog the tapes just fine, and although the catalogs complete without errors, they show no files when I look into them with detail.

Trying to restore the backup give me the message: Selected media not found in catalogs. You must catalog... blah blah

help!

We are having the same problem. From all the problem postings I have been reading, I don't know why anyone chooses to use Backup Exec Version 8.0. I have okayed thousands of dollars for autoloaders and tapes and the blasted restores never work.

 
I did find another question similar to yours and there was a response, as follows from univega_r304.

Close Backup Exec and stop services. Locate BETOPCAT.IDXin the catalog folder where Backu Exec is installed. Rename it, Betopcat.old is fine. Restart services to regenerate the index. Open Backup Exec.

This did not work for me but you could try it and see if it takes care of your problem.
 
I solved the problem shortly after this posting.. I hope this works for you.

Stop the BE related services...
Go into services and enable Remote Registry Services
Restart BE..


Simple, but apparently effective.

We use W2K BE 8.5

I guess I should clarify that I meant windows services.

In Win2k

Start --> Programs --> Administrative Tools --> Services

Stop the BE related services...
Go into services and enable Remote Registry Services
Restart BE..
