Hi guys,

Hope someone can help me to avoid implementing the model from scratch again. [yeah, .. cvs .. I know :-( ]

We have lost our present Framework Manager model. Hence the only model we have is the published one.

Is there any way to restore a published model to Framework-Manager model - even with yucky work-arrounds.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks a lot for the quick answer - brilliant !!

I'll try it out and post my experience using the optest utility.

Cheers,

Thanks a lot. [thumbsup2]

It's working fine. Now I've made "several" backups.

People who do not have access to the Cognos Knowledge Base might appreciate the following:

Description:
Can you recover the model for a report?
Solution:
If the model and/or the project file for a report is lost, damaged or not available, it
can be recovered from the Content Store using the optest utility.
Obtain the model from the Content Store and use it with an empty project file.
Note: This does not work for cognos 8 as the optest.exe file is removed from the bin
directory in the cognos 8 version.
Steps:
1. Locate the package in question and note the package name.
2. From the command prompt, go to the <ReportNetInstallation>\crn\bin directory.
3. Enter the following command:
optest -m <package_name>
3a. If there is security enabled, you may need to add additional arguments for
authentication with the content store. Your final command should look something
like:
optest -m <package_name> -s <namespaceID> <userid> <password>
4. If the command was successful, a <package_name>.xml file is placed in the
<ReportNetInstallation>crn\OPTEST\model directory.
5. Using Framework Manager, create an empty project file. Choose New Project,
select language, and at the Metadata Import dialog click Cancel.
6. Save the empty project. Note the path name of the directory where it was saved.
7. Navigate to the directory where the newly created project was created, replace
the "model.xml" file with the <package_name>.xml file obtained from steps 3 and 4.
8. Open the project file in Framework Manager and it should now show the model
that the report/package was based on.
