Restore of Top of Info to a different server

Can we restore the Information Store to a seperate server?? Our VP had 1000 emails stored in her deleted items folder and once they were permently deleted realized she needed a handful of emails. We only have the Information store backed up(individual mailboxes were inadventently taken off selection list a few months back) We only need her deleted items folder restored. We have an old exchange box and were wondering if we can redirect the Information Store there to retrieve the one folder. Any help would be great as Syamntec/Veritas is very slow to respond to support questions. Thanks

Is the old exchange box up and running and in the same domain?

Typically the procedure you would have a exchange recovery server that is in a different forest. Machine name doesn matter. The Exchagne struction must be the same as the production server. So basically when you look in exchange admin the store names must be the same on the recover server..including the producton server name.

Make sure you have rights to the recovery exchange server and just run a redirect restore

Also this will work. You can extract mailboxes from right from information store backups on tapes
