Hi all,

I'm trying to restore a SQL-server 2000 Master database from a backup. I need to restore the security.
I understand that I have to be a single user on the server to do this.
To do this I have sqlserver.exe -m -c as a startup parameter.
But after startup I'm not allowed to access the SQL-server!

How can I deal with this?

Don't use Enterprise Manager to connect to the SQL Server after it has started. Use Query Analyzer or osql to do the actual restore. EM actually requires several database connections, but with the server is this state it only allows one connection to the server.

If you are just after restoring the permissions etc. then I would go for the sp_help_revlogin route. If you restore the master from a different server then there may be plenty of other items you would need to change.

HTH,
