restore issue

I have a windows 2000 server running backup exec 8. However someone has sent me a DLT tape which i need to restore to my server - he has used windows 2000 to create the backup.

When I put the tape in the drive and open the remote storage MMC i cannot see the tape. Does backup exec 8 disable windows backup.

Is there any other way to restore the data?

Have you tried stopping all the backup exec services and then trying your Microsoft Backup?
They compete for the same equipment.
Once done, restart the backup exec services.

I have used BE 8.6 to read and restore from a windows backup file before do you have the ability to catalog the backup file from BE?
