restore is not working , no error msg. 1

Hi,
Icannot restore any file. No error message, but file restored is very small.I tried .pdf file which was 360kb an dafter restore it was only 1kb. Any suggesstions what is going wrong? I tried ms access .mdb file and after restore it is 20k. Help!!!

What kind of compression are you using?

I use software compression from arcserve 2000.

Are you running a verify job on your backups to ensure data consistency? Do you have to use the compression for your backups to fit on to a tape?

Hi,
Compression coused the problem. I applied patch qo19352 on sp4 for arcserve 2000 and it fixed the problem. All prevously done backup can be restored and files are not corrupted. I tested a few and it was fine.
The key ward was 'compression'.
