Is it possible to restore from a backup that failed with tape error 84 ?

We had 59Gb written to tape before the error occurred. Can I read any of the data ?

Yes...
It is true that NetBackup expires the information concerning the backup from the catalog. However, the data is still on the tape and it can be restored using the tar file provided by VERITAS. Procedures for restoring using tar are in the manuals and also in the VERITAS "Knowledge Base Search"

pmwut5,
Did you send multiple streams, multiplexing, to the tape at the same time?

Stumpr,
I was under the impression that if this is done then restores using the tar file provided by Veritas will not work. Can anyone verify this for me?
