Hi,

I have a problem with the flashcard of my Embedded Voicemail I use in a SOE 3.0.67.

I first created an auto attendant (AA) and some mailboxes with customized greetings and all was working good.
But after a few days I noticed that my mailboxes greetings have been defaulted but not the AA greeting.

When I try to customize them again, the greetings are not saved (both for AA and mailbox). When I choose 1 to listen the greeting, I only listen a blank and the mailbox or AA goes on playing the default message.

I've formated the flashcard and copied the files from the ManagementSuite whith the provided BAT script.
Now I get another problem, after copying the files by TFTP and rebooting the SOE:
When all is good, I can see in Monitor "LVMailFlashMan::FiveMinuteActions: called" and after 5 minutes "LVMailFlashMan::FiveMinuteActions: VOICEMAIL ACTIVATED".
Now I only have the message "LVMailFlashMan::FiveMinuteActions: called" repeted every 5 minutes and never voicemail activated.

So my Embedded Voicemail doesn't work anymore.

I would like to know how to reset to "factory defaults" the flash card or how to solve this problem.
Thanx a lot.

Best way to do this is to copy the Appropriate files form the LVMSOUND Folder on the Admin CD to the flash Card using a card reader in a Local PC. Make sure you choose the right folder G711 or G723. One is for 406V2 and the other for Small Office.

PS. Embedded Voicemail is really a waste of time and money. I tried it at a few clients and am not impressed.

Hi superikey,

I work in the same company than Alliancetelecom.
I'm right with you concerning the VM embedded.
It's only interesting for customers who want auto attendant facilities at low cost.

The problem is that we have formated from a PC (fitted with a PCMCIA slot) the memory card provided by AVAYA.

Are you sure that it's possible to restore G7xx files and also to restore the system ?
We've restored G7xx files but the card doesn't still work.

Thank you in advance.

I suspect that you may have to arrange a card swap with Avaya or your Avaya distributor. The Embedded VM cards are specially formatted by Avaya - to stop people just using any generic off the shelf compact flash memory card - and that process is going to be something they keep between themselves and the factory. So your reformating it has probably removed some header information that the SOE looks for.

I think I agree with sizbut that Avaya specially formats them.

These cards are formatted with VXWare wich is a real-time Unix OS.
The format type is very much like MS-DOS but just slightly diferent so if you format it with MS-DOS ( or MS-Windows wich is basically the same with a big shell around it ) then this little difference makes a big difference in the IP Office wich runs VX Ware internally.
There is no other software package wich can format the disks in this special VXWare format.

Thank you Intrigant for these accurate explanations.
The format ran from the PC was operated in MS-DOS mode.
We know now the reason of our problem.

I'm going to ship our 2 Mem Cards for RMA.

Last question : are you sure that there is no other software (maybe non Avaya soft)able to format with this VX Ware mode ?
