Hello

does anyone know if it is possible to -whithin a AIX5.3 nim environment- take an aix5.1 mksysb, create a spot, and restore that to a server?

When I start the restore I get an error on the client that he is not able to find the mkvg command. So he can't create a new rootvg and therefore can't restore.

Maybe there is something wrong with the spot, because it was created in an AIX5.3 environment, but I'm not realy shure...

Steven

Yes possible & it's One of the feature of NIM.

1.Take mksysb of 5.1 on NIM

2.Create SPOT using that mksysb

3. Restore to Client (AIX 5.1)

As long as your NIM is equal or Higher OS level that Client it's supported.
