In trying to create security for a particular database, I inadvertently created a new user name for the entire Access program on my machine. Therefore, I no longer have Admin available as a user for Access (Admin is still there, but all of the choices are grayed out/not available for selection). Is there a way that I can restore Admin as a user to my machine and delete the new user name I created? At this point, because the Admin functions are grayed out, I am unable to delete the user name I created. Thank you!

Cousinnoba,
1)What you first need to do is go into TOOL, SECURITY, USER/GROUP ACCOUNTS.
2)Next, click on the User tab at the top.
3)Select ADMIN as the user.
4)Select the Clear password for the Admin user.
5)Next,click CHANGE LOG ON PASSWORD tab button.
6)Leave the old password blank.
7)Enter a new password for Admin.
8)Close database.
9)When you re-open your database, a sign on screen should pop up with a userID and you would need to enter your password. You would enter the UserID that you had created, if you issued a password for this user then enter the password, if you did not enter a password for this user, just hit enter.
10)Verify the UserID you created is the user who is logged on with all rights by going into TOOL, SECURITY, USER/GROUP PERMISSIONS.
11)At the bottom form, you will see a section labeled, CURRENT USER. This will show you who is actually logged on.
12)Since the new user has all ADMIN permissions, you can now assign the ADMIN User back as a member of the ADMIN GROUP.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Annette

Annette,

:) Thank you so much for your assistance and the detailed instructions. Unfortunately, I am unable to clear the password for the administrator because that button, as well as all the others except for "Print Users and Groups," is not available for me to use (it's grayed out). I do appreciate your time.
