I am trying to load a database onto a new comptuer. I have the .zip file on the desktop. When I link to it to load it into the new ACT 2012 program, it asks for the user name and password. There isn't one or I can't locate one. How do I get around this? The files are stored in a .bak format, so I can't just open them in the program as they aren't in the .pad, .dbf or .adf format. Please help!!

You always need the user/pass to restore.

Usually, if you didn't need one before, try:
User - Firstname Lastname (your names)
Pass - try leaving it blank

If that doesn't work ... do you still have access to the previous machine? If so, have a look in Tools | Manage Users.
