Hi Again

I have many resources in my project and have to report availability per person.
If I have person A always working 50% but person B is only working 40% until a specific date. How do I enter person B's specific "request"? At the moment they look availible.
Is it also possible to have one person working totally 50% one month but after that only 40%?
MS Project 2007 is used.

Best Regards // Linda

Hi Linda,

Double click on the Resource's name to show the Resource Information dialog box. On the General tab, you'll see "Resource Availability" and it will show one line:
Available from: NA
Available to: NA
Units: 50%

If your resource changes you can change the data. So for your resource who is available only the first month at 50%:
Available from: NA
Available to: 6/30/12
Units 50%
Next row
Available from: 7/1/12
Available to: NA
Units 40%

Two more question on this.
If I have the availability 90% for a resource.
She/he will spend 50% in Project A and 40% in project B.

Question 1) if the resource needs to spend 60% in June on project A. How do I solve that in an easy way? Same way if the time is less? For example 40% for project A in June.

Questin 2) If a resource "is red". Will it always be red or how do I do to make it "OK" again.

Hello Linda,

Yes, it is done in the same way. Decrease the resource's maximum units through the Resource Information dialog. You'll need to watch carefully for tasks that start in the change period as Project will not alter the assignment value mid-task.

Questin 2) If a resource "is red". Will it always be red or how do I do to make it "OK" again.

A resource appearing in red means s/he is overallocated -- assigned more work in a given period than s/he has available. You need to drill in and discover what is causing the overallocation and how severe it is. If you decide to fix the overallocation, the red will disappear until another overallocation is created.
