Hi I want to know if it was possible to configure citrix maetaframe server to e-mail or some other kind of notification message to the admisitrator or other users on the domain. Also is it posssible to track what users have log onto the citrix server and for how long and produce a report on this.

Kind Regards

If you have FR3 you can right-Click resource manager and choose Properties. Then choose to use a MAPI profile or SMTP. If you use SMTP simply go to the E-mail tab and enter your SMTP server and the appropriate addresses. Make sure your metrics are setup to send E-mail on yellow or red, etc.
There are alot of great reports you can download from Citrix to run against RM. Also you can develop your own reports using Crystal Developer.

Yes I do have fr3 but when I right click on resource manger I do not get that option I only get refresh resource manger.

Help

What licenses do you have installed? Also, are your servers set to feature release 3?

Have changed my feature release level and it now works ok, do you know how to configure and set up a report to e-mail the administrator when ever a citrix user connects or disconnects ?, also how do I set up a log file to record the previous information?.

Thanks

Whenever a user connects or disconnects? That sounds like overkill. Do you have SNMP montioring? If you have any monitoring system setup for SNMP like MOM or HP OVO you can send those traps to the monitoring server and have it e-mail.
You may look deeper into adding metrics to your servers or applications and set them to e-mail. I am not sure what your environment demands but you can set a count metric on an applications with a yellow and red limit of 1 and set the alert to e-mail on yellow/red. This will let you know when someone is logged in.

As for a log file, are you looking for historical data? If so setup a summary database for that.

DDILL, I'm also looking for more info on Resource Manager, I have set it up and it seems to be collecting data but I don't remember how to change the metrics? I am running Metaframe XPe 1.0 FR2.

KCDave03, if you do not find the metrics in Resource Manager you wish to monitor you might want to take a look at Lakeside Software's latest version of SysTrack. SysTrack has 41 predefined counters, as well as a "Profile" facility to help easily change the standard thresholds.
SysTrack also has built in alarming capabilities, keeps historical system data, and can provide you with log in/out times users.

Please contact me if I can provide you with additional information about SysTrack 3.1.

Good luck!
