Does anyone know of a source or reference that gives just a little more detail on the fields in the RMS database than the Citrix Administrator's Guide? The guide is a bit light on details...

TIA  - Bill

Well, there are the counters from perfmon - descriptions of these can be found by searching in Google - is that what you were asking?

Not exactly - for example in the TrackApp table (RMS) there are fields like "Total_Time", "Activ_Time", "Kern_Used" and such. I know basically what these fields are, but I'd like a little more exact definition... - Bill

I asked around my contacts at Citrix, and all they could tell me was that they pretty much do as described. ie TrackApp tracks application usage by the Total_Time the app was used for, the time the app was active for - and so on.

I get the impression that this info is not for "public consumption". It would be good to track down someone like Rick Mack or Todd Mathers who might know a bit more...

The figures themselves are useful for creating baselines, so that you have a reference between servers. This can be very useful when troubleshooting.

Sorry I can't help more.

Bill: Lakeside Software, Inc.'s original version of SysTrack was license to Citrix in 1998. Citrix renamed the product to RMS. A license agreement between Citrix and Lakeside precluded Lakeside from competing in the server-based computing arena until now. There is a new version of SysTrack (2.0) that is being released on Monday, February 25th, 2002. It has been GREATLY enhanced with many new features and it is built on a much more stable foundation. Without going into details here, please let me know if you would like someone to get you a free evaluation copy. They are offering upgrades to people who have RMS at a 55% discount. If you e-mail me at kapski@yahoo.com I can get someone in touch with you to put you on the list of people who want to evaluate the new version. They can get you better descriptions of whatever fields you have questions about too. Regards, Mike

I hope you're not a salesman, Mike!

Seriously, if you can obtain information on the fields that perfmon/RMS/Systrack use, this would be of interest to all on this forum.

CitrixEngineer: Isn't everyone a salesperson at times? Not in this case however.

Anyway, I have checked on the field names information you requested. I was told that information on their field names is available to customers of Lakeside and is not public domain as it falls under the licensing agreement of the product. They also told me that while documentation is available on these fields, they do not provide programming support. Maybe Citrix would be willing to provide documentation on the RMS fields. I wish I could help more. Sorry.
