Trying to put together report for client still using v5.0 - but I don't think version matters.

We sort to be able to use 'Next Record' to calc most important field of each record. Now we'd like to resort and filter by that calc vaule. Sounds like a simple subreport exercise, yet every subreport ploy I try fails. Basically I don't even see that calc value as a subreport field TO EVEN LINK let alone place on subreport. What's my fundamental flaw?? Thanks in advance, Bugg.

well resorting after calculation is not an option I'm afraid. Crystal does only one pass at the records.

The only resorting that could be done is if the results of the calculations were stored in an array. The array could be sorted and then displayed in a footer of some sort.

Give more detail about what you want to do....there may be a better way to do it....identify the tables you are looking at and a sample of what the output should be. Jim Broadbent

Thanks for finding some time Jim..

We are trying to build a 'gap' report. a flight departs a given gate and then one arrives. A 'gap' is the minutes btw the two.

truncated layout..
to even get last column to work we sort primary data first by gate then by either? or a time column
(a) (b) (b-a)
Arv Dept NextRec Gate CalcValue
Time Time ArvTime
----- ----- ----- ----- ------

0815 0910 0931 B3 21
0931 1021 1040 B3 19
1040 1145 1200 B3 15
0840 0955 1100 B4 9999*
1100 1220 1251 B4 31

*if NextRec gate <> gate we put in 9999

Primary objective is have report sorted by CalcValue (ascending) and then filter out CalcValue >30.

I'm on the subreport bandwagon but am striking out terribly. ANY HELP APPRECIATED!!
