SCO 5.0.x box, Pentium 2 with 64MB RAM.

Changed the IP address recently, and ever since then system crashes daily with "out of streams allocation" error.

I tried increasing the NSTREAM, NSTRPAGES parameters several times, based on suggestions here. relink, reboot.

Still crashes.

Would adding more RAM (I'm thinking of going to 256MB) help????

Samba is running. Why?
Old versions of samba are known to eat streams resources on OSR.
Which version of samba are you running ?
I don't have problem with 2.2.7a in my boxes running OSR 5.0.4 thru 5.0.7

Hope This Help, PH.

PHV,

Running Samba 2.0.3
Will upgrade.

How could something as innocuous as changing the I.P. address cause all this !#$%^&*($!??

thnks

Upgrading Samba will not necessarily help. There is a bug in SCO that is exploited by Samba that caused this. The only fix I know of is to make a change in the Samba source code and recompile Samba. I found the information by diging in google for a bit. I have made new VOLS of Samba 2.2.6 with the fix applied. You can have them if you like
