resolv.conf not working

I'm connecting my sun machine to a win2000 server .
I can ping it and the other machines, but everytime i try t surf the net of do a nslookup i get a error saying can't find server name.

The only way I can access the net is if i specify the proxy in the preferences in netscape.
But the problem is I can't get other programs such as gnutella to connect.

I'v already tried adding a gateway as specified by winproxy on the win2000 box. I can connect the other none solaris boxs. Is there something I have missed.

Is the sun box your internet gateway ? In your posting it was not clear ?
