I know this is probably going to seem like a stupid question but I am still finding my way around InDesign. I'm trying to resize images quickly and simply. When I used Pagemaker it was a simple process of taking a corner handle of the frame, holding shift, and changing the size of the image that way. However with InDesign it's proving more problematic.

I have a book that I'm using which says that I should be using the Selection Tool (the black arrow) as this changes the frame and the contents of that frame at the same time. But for some reason this isn't happening. It's only changing the size of the frame and obscuring the actual image so I can only see part of it. Therefore I am resorting to using the Free Transform Tool.

However, I am just curious to know if I am doing something wrong or if there is an easier way to do this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Stick with the Selection Tool but also smash down some keys to enhance the tool.

Mac: CMD-SHIFT

Windows: CTRL-SHIFT
