I have a photo that is 8.5" x 5" at 300 dpi. The picture eventually will end up less that 3/4" in a picture box Quark.

I opened the eps photo in Photoshop, resized the image down to 3/4", keeping the 300 dpi. Looks great on the screen.

When I place this image into the picture box in Quark it looks low rez, ok, so Quark is not giving me a good preview but I have taken the file to get a colour proof from the printer & the picture looks just as bad on the proof as it does on my screen.

There is also another picture within the document, same original size, etc as the first pic. When importing that picture without resizing in Photoshop but taking it down to 10% in Quark, it comes out fine.

What am I doing wrong? Is this a Quark issue? I'm so confused

Its been figured out!

There was no problem with the way Photoshop handled the job. What went wrong, was that Quark's preview can be really bad, which in itself is not a big issue. But I was using a xtension named ShadowCaster which acutally does not use the real files but essentially takes a "screen shot" of the Quark preview file. Hence the lousy result.

Sorry if anybody spent any time on this problem.

Thanks
