I am trying to help a friend wire his new home and need some help. I will be installing a wireless network for his computers and video cameras. I would like to setup a comm closet for him with and extend the demark for phone service. I would also like to set this up so that I can just plug in whatever jacks need to be active.

Any suggestions or how too's are welcome.
As always, thanks for your help.

If you haven't started the wiring project or at least finished, look at leviton or Onq home wiring products. They make some nice panels to do all the modular patching you mentioned. I did a leviton install in my house and in some of my friends and it is nice. Also, look into some product made by some of the hardware manufacturers that make pathways. Some of them have products that look like baseboards but are actually channels to run wire in and can be painted to match the existing structure. the jacks and even electrical plugs can be mounted in the base board or fed up above it. Also, some of the suppliers carry 6 foot drill bits which will get you through a fire break in a wall and have a hole in the center of the bit near the end so you can tie on a string before you pull it back up the wall, and then attach the string to your cable and pull it down through the hole you just drilled.

hope this helps
