PULL THE POWER, THAT'S ABOUT THE ONLY WAY. IF YOU PUSH THE RESET IN THE BACK 13 TIMES YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD SCRIPT FILES AGAIN

I have never had any success resetting an SEB Modem, it depends upon the firmware of the SEB. Only an authorised SEB Vendor has the necessary files to reset the SEB, for $300 they will reset if for you. The easiest thing to do if you need modem access is to replace the SEB with a USR Modem about $99. If yo do then you will need to initialize the modem to work with the PBX.

Get a standard AT Cable for you PC, set your communications software to either 2400 or 9600

Here is how:

Power off the modem

Set DIP Switches 1,3,7, and 8 down for all programming

Turn on Modem

at&f0 cr ok
ats0=1 cr ok
at&b1 cr ok
aty0 cr ok
atq1 cr no response
at&w0 cr no response
at&w1 cr no response

Power off the modem

Set DIP Switch 1, 4, and 8 down, all others should be up

If you use a modem then there is no security to access the switch except for the switch password itself. I would not recommend that unless you can disconnect the modem after you are finished.

95% of PBX's don't get hacked because someone logged into the modem, broke the password, and then changed something, and then called back. They get hacked because 50% of the PBX's have no comprehensive security.

Most Technicians, users, and programmers don't know the first thing about securing a PBX against toll fraud, and those are the people that are out making changes to systems everyday.

Vendors sell SEB's cause they add several hundred dollars to the cost of your system, they usually charge around $1500 for the SEB itself. If you set your password on your PBX as a 16 digit alphanumeric code, take the modem number off the jack. You won't have a problem. Don't think because your system has an SEB it is safe from Toll Fraud cause it isn't.

the seb modem will lock out and geta bsy if some one is not inputting the password correctly. you get 5 trys. then to reset the seb.... unplug every cable on the seb go away for 1 hr or so and then try it. sounds nuts but it works.
