We want a manager to be able to access user's voicemail without a password.

This is for when user's leave the company. Currently a password reset request is sent to the IT staff and then they reset it. We would like managers to have access without needing to reset the passord.

Voicemail Pro 4.1 - Intuity mode.

I tried testing by setting Source Numbers to V5320 (my extension) on a couple users but I am still prompted for a password when dialing the extension.

i believe the Source number only works if you are running IP Office Mode.

You can give them Manager on there pc. Otherwise when you get a new employee have them tell the manager there access code. Then have the manager keep an excell spread sheet of everyones voicemail code, so when that person leaves she/he can change it that way.

The V101 (as an example) does work for visual voice incase you want to protect it or not. As for logging into your mailbox trusted without password, you can do it.

Troyz, Im gonna assume you are somewhat experienced on the IPO. Create a shortcode in manager going to a voicemail shortcode. At the startpoint in vmail, connect it to a get mail action. In the properties of the getmail action, go into the specific tab and put in "$KEY". Anytime you press the shortcode from the phone itself that is related to the mailbox, it will log in trusted without password. For administration purposes you should keep this a secret from normal users as security is always a must. You could even pin protect it inside the Getmail so no can access it but administrators. Pretty slick right? I use this from time to time and it definetly works.

Sounds good except for the part of "Anytime you press the shortcode from the phone itself".

I doubt my managers will want to get off their buts to walk around to different phones to check messages.

I'll see which one of these they want to do. I do not want to give them access to the manager application.

Create a manager login that can reset passwords and trane a couple people on how to do it.

I dont see it being a big deal to go to the phone itself. This is usually an occasional occurance when someone leaves a company. Besides, maybe the managers should get off their lazy butts and work for their money! Its no wonder we have an obesity epidemic. lol

Your doing it wrong. Set a shortcode as *ext/voicemail collect/ext/0 In the source number tab of the ext put the supervisors Vext. You/re done and you have what you want.

It shouldn't be a big deal for the managers to go to the phones to check voicemail but I know they won't do it.

We have a constantly changing sales group and we keep the extension up for 1 week after the person leaves the company. The manager checks the voicemails for a week (after requesting a password change), then the user is deleted.

I did not think that the Vext that Ronromano suggested works with intuity. I tried setting a vext (without the shortcode) and it still requests a password.

Can anyone confirm this? If that does not work I looked at security and setup the manager group with only user rights. I will go with that if I can't do it with shortcode.

:)

As I said I tried the Vext and it did not work with intuity. I did not think a shortcode would work for that reason.

I am not in the office at the moment. I will try it later.

OK, I know another way. Ron method is a bit different from this one. In my first post I said "Create a shortcode in manager going to a voicemail shortcode". From here goto startpoint in vmail, connect it to a menu action with the selector code of 1?? (if your extensions are in the 100s). Connect the 1?? of the getmail action, go into the getmail action specific tab and put in "$KEY" under Mailboxes. Record a Message in the Menu action that says, Please dial the vmailbox u wish to administer. Finally, do as Ronromano suggested, put the V123 (the managers ext) in the users source numbers. It will only work from the managers station. It works, I just tested it.

Thanks!!!

That looks like what I need.

Follow-up: This works great thanks to SuperJenks & RonRomano.

To recap for anyone that is looking for this.

Created Shortcode pointed to voicemail shortcode.

Code: 7842
Feature: VOICEMAIL NODE
Telephone Number: SOMENAME (shortcode setup in VM PRO)

In Voicemail Pro created shortcode SOMENAME.

Added Menu Action, modified "Menu Action" Touch Tones and added my extension format 4??, modified pin (Menu Action - General tab) added Get Mail Token, modified "Get Mail" mailbox to $KEY on Specific tab.

In Manager add the Vext (i.e. V400 yours or the manager) under the Source Number tab for each user you want them to have access to voicemail without a password.

That's it! Again thanks to SuperJenks.
