I've got a Compaq 400338 4-port KVM switch, recently acquired. Works fine, except the options are locked and the password has been changed from the default listed in the manual. Does anyone know how to wipe the password and reset the unit? The hardware reset button only seems to reset the mouse and kbd. There's a DIP switch with four sliders inside a door on the bottom of the unit. I'm stumped.

Reset KVM password

There is no way of resetting the switch by using the dip-switches. You must place a call to your local Compaq/HP service centre and they will help you reset the switch. Of obvious reasons I cannot write that procedure in a public forum! Then there would be no security at all :-(

Ouch! OK, I understand this might be a security issue if it were restricting access. It's not; just keeping me from renaming the selections and setting the popup display intensity, duration etc... Guess I'll have to find a service centre and pony up some bucks, which I was hoping to avoid.
