I have been told there is a toolkit containing a utility to do this. I need something that I can use to reset a computer remotely. We have students that get a ban and it doesn't come into force until the next time they try to login. I have tried to take away their DHCP lease, I have tried to disable the computer account thru AD but I cannot get anything to work.
Can anyone help?

I get 'Cannot be managed the network path was not found' I tried by name and IP.

You can do this quite simply using a batch script ... i think it uses the IP which is a little bit of a fiddle if you are running DHCP .... it may work with the DNS name but i cant gaurentee it.

I cant find my copy of script anywhere ... but there are loads of rescources on the net for this sort of thing ... they are also pretty configurable to give time limits and messages to the user at the work station.

You may have to push a copy of shutdown.exe to some fo your older clients.

Let me know how you get on.

Hello,

I use shutdown.exe with a bat file and task scheduler to force logoffs and reboots as well at certain times. It should be available on the Windows XP install disk and is installed as a part of the installation process. You need to be an administrator/domain admin on the machine to make it work.
