reset cisco 801 router

new to cisco,i have bought a second hand cisco 801 and tried to reset password, but get stuck
use ctrl+break
router goes to
boot#
type set
shows last line
set ios-conf =0x102
type set ios-conf = 142 at the boot# prompt.
returns
but next step i have to use boot (to reboot) but router does not reboot or respond

What terminal emulator are you using? You don't type "set"...

i have connected router using std console cable to serial port 1, settings 9600baud rate, 8databits,none parity, 1 stop bits,no flow control.

seems some curroption is there in config, as when router starts up .. get cannot detect some file.

issue seems to be fixed. started up router today and configs seem to be defaulted..we can close this.
