reset 96xx without craft password

does anyone know a way to reset an 9620 without the craft password. i bought the phone used and local procedures are locked to view only.

Boot the phone and see for what fileserver IPaddress it looks for.
Then setup a file server and change the 46xxsettings.txt file and set the password to craft.

it trying a vpn first. i think i can do it via dhcp so i'll go that route.
