In RES 3700, what's the best way to route remote printing according to RVC or table number?

The use case is for restaurants with multiple bars (bar printers) or kitchens (kitchen printers). Those restaurants are equipped with lots of mobile workstations. As mobile workstations can serve any RVC or tables, the default remote printer for a mobile workstation is often not the one a server expects, and caused issues.

Some restaurants have multiple RVCs, some only have one RVC.

For those with multiple RVCs

- how to route remote print to a physical remote printer that is close to this RVC?

For those with only one RVC

- how to route remote print to a physical remote printer that is close to the table where an order is placed on?

Ideally, it is an ISL based solution, such that the entire rerouting process is transparent to servers, and no need for an extra button.

I checked ISL documentation, there is a startprint command. Can I send print job according to an order device according to RVC or table number? The content of the print (i.e.: drink order) will stay exactly the same, just rerouting as needed.

Thanks.

Update: I wrote the script. Cannot figure out how to just reroute the print, so have to print items one by one all over again.

Another configuration , integrated in Micros 3700 is to use the override function of the print job with a macro and use the printer configuration from a workstation.
if rvc 1 use printer configuration of workstation 2001, if rvc 2 use printer configuration of workstation 2002 etc...

Create for every RVC Printer configuration a Workstation.
and the send order change the printer configuration to use the specific dummy.

Order device routing profile

Order Redirection
Order redirection allows an employee (usually a manager) to change the routing of remote order output to a different order device.
Redirection takes place in response to deliberate intervention by an employee. It is different from backup printing, which the system performs automatically when it is unable to output to an order device.
A privileged employee uses a Manager Procedure to redirect order printing. This procedure lets the employee redirect orders from one printer to another.

Workstation Routing Profiles (RES 3.2 SP7)

In many restaurants, separate food prep lines are used to process orders from different sides of the business. For example, a quick-service restaurant may have two prep lines — one to expedite and bag Drive-Thru orders, and one to handle Eat-In orders. Although both lines produce the same menu items, each serves it own segment of the customers.
To ensure that orders are sent to the appropriate prep stations, each workstation is linked to a specific order output device (KDS or printer). This is referred to as the workstation order device routing profile.

The Problem
By default, a workstation’s profile remains in effect (fixed) until changed in the database. There are times in the business day when certain workstations are closed down or when one side (Eat-In) is busier than the other (Drive-Thru). To balance the workload, operators need to be able to temporarily direct orders to a different prep line.
To do this, a proprogrammed function key is added to the touchscreen. When pressed, the system displays a list of all of the workstations currently in the system. To change the order routing, the operator selects the number/name of a workstation that sends to the preferred order device. When the OK button is pressed, the local workstation overrides its default settings and sends its order to the other’s prep line.

NOTE
Sites can simplify this process by creating a macro key to automatically change the routing profile. Besides reducing keystrokes, this eliminates the need for operators to know which workstation to select to reach a particular order device.

Limitations

During operations, the following rules and limitations will be enforced:
Workstations must be authorized to use this feature. This is done by checking the new Enable Order Routing Profile Selection option in POS Configurator.
Workstations cannot be excluded from the routing list.
If the routing profile is changed in the middle of a transaction, it will only be active within that transaction. Once the check is service totaled, the system will revert to the workstation’s default order device settings.
If the order routing is changed before the check is started, the profile will be active until the function key is pressed and it is switched again by the operator.
In a non-DOM environment, profile changes inside a transaction can only be done until the first item is sent to the kitchen. After that, attempts to change the order routing will result in an error message.
In a DOM environment, profile changes are not allowed after the first item has been ordered. Once an item has been sent to an order device, the remainder of that order cannot be sent elsewhere.
This feature is not valid with delayed or future orders.

Or use the function in RVC Printing
Tender/Media printer link as mask.
It is more difficult to setup but works the same way.

This activates use the print class of tender/media.

1. Create additional PrintClasses for RVC 1 / RVC 2 etc...

2. add the Print Class to Tender/Media
Service TTL RVC 1
Service TTL RVC 2
etc...
Do not forget to add send order when you change to the payment screen. The print class of cash and credit card will be used instead.

Thanks, POSKitchen.

I created a file that listens to service total event.

If service total, then check what the current RVC is. If RVC 1 & major/family group is liqor, then print on order[1], etc. (the use case is for chit printing only)

For locations only have 1 RVC, then check table number.

Tested with file printer and works so far. Will need field test to ensure it actually works.
