We use an outside company for conferencing services that we reach via an 800 #. We are now going to be using a new conferencing company. Is it possible for me to program all my PBXs so that when the old 800 # is called I can route it to the new 800 #? I know I can set up a DMI to add and delete but my first thought is, since we are not the owners of this 800# is it even possible? thank you.

If the other 800 number terminates through your switch - yes Use an IDC table to change incoming DNIS to new location.

If it terminates outside your switch - you could setup a phantom ext and DCFW to the new location. However, if you forward an 800 number to another 800 number you will be billed twice for every call. If the new location has an alternate number you can dial to reach the same service it would be better to forward to that number.

thank you Reusser, but I'm a bit confused. How is an IDC tree going to help? this is an outbound call. Neither of the 800 #s terminates to our switches. They are two separate teleconferencing vendors. We want to use one of the two exclusively but we do not want to block the other 800 # (which I know I can do easily enough in LD 90). When our users go off-hook and dial teleconferencing company A we want the call to actually point to teleconferencing company B. But since I own neither of those 800 #s I don't even know if I can control this via a DMI table. Thanks.

The DMI will work you can make the switch dial the 800# that you set up when they dial the other one.

okay, thanks. I didn't want to start playing around with it until I knew whether it could be done. One more thing...when I create the DMI table am I deleting 12 digits (9 1 800 555 6666)? Do I need to be concerned with anything else as far as whether the carrier inserts a 9 as well, etc.? Thank you very much for your help. It is most appreciated.

strange request, i would make it a system speed dial and send that in the email, you have to send times and passwords to users anyway. you can block the call using fsns or rcas in 87. and you could do 10 digit routing, but seems like an email would handle it, after all in my boss wants me to meet him on a conf call, i have a great excuse if he didn;t attach a number, password and time.

no, they specifically do not want to block the number. They just want company A's toll-free number to route to company B's toll-free number. Just in case anyone still calls company A for teleconferencing.

Dmi will be the key but you will have to seperate this one number from all the other 800 numbers to a different RLI to make it work and still allow other 800 numbers.

your entries would change from
1800
RLI x

to Assuming the number to change was 1800 333 3333
1800 1
1800 2
1800 30
1800 31
1800 32
1800 330
1800 331
1800 332
1800 333 0
1800 333 1
1800 333 2
1800 333 30
1800 333 31
1800 333 32
1800 333 330
1800 333 331
1800 333 332
1800 333 3330
1800 333 3331
1800 333 3332
1800 333 3333 <-- differen RLI
1800 333 3334
etc

that's what I thought. If I just block it it would be much easier. I'm trying to convince my manager to let me do it that way. what about the double-billing? Am I going to get billed for the entire duration of the call by both 800#? if so, that may be enough to sway my manager to just let me block it in SDRR DENY. Thanks a LOT for your response.

No - you will not be double billed - that was if they were inbound numbers.

i convinced my boss to just let me block it in LD 90. thank you.
