Good day,

I'm currently looking into setting up my own personal mail server. I have a static IP and no ports are blocked from my ISP. Can someone please describe the additional services I will require from my ISP or any other service provider(ex. A record for mail.mydomain.com pointing to my Server). Or if someone could perhaps recommend a book or link which covers this?

Many thanks!

Well I think I pretty much have the poor mans version of this. Basically since you have a static ip..which is great!! Just get a free dns service and set up a mx record to your ip, what i did was a buy a domain name.

In dns manager (the guys who sold you the domain) make a a record for MYDOMAIN.com pointing to MY_IP_ADDRESS
Then I made a mx record for mail.MYDOMAIN.com pointing to MY_IP_ADDRESS
And I set my exchange server to recieve mail for MYDOMAIN
