I am a new user of SMS 2003 and am having a problem interpreting when an advertisement is actually installed on a client.

I submitted the ad in portions to different collections and received over 150 success messages (10009). However, when I check "software updates" I see 186 requested with 30 compliant. These stats do not support the status messages I get from the advertisement.

Please help me to clarify this confusion.

success messages mean just that 150 machines have run the ad successfully.

Software updates means 186 workstations needed an update and after they checked the new xml file and 30 of them were up to date so they needed nothing

try that again here....

Software updates means 186 workstations needed an update after they checked the new xml file. 30 clients were up to date so they needed nothing.

actually looking at a mail list I'm in I dont see anyone thats got an update from yesterday....

If I have SMS scheduled to go out every Thursday at 12:45AM to check for new software updates and have a security scan scheduled for my user community on Thursday at 9:30 AM, when will the request/compliant statistics change?

I have seen these same numbers for 3 weeks running. Is the client's add/remove programs NOT getting updated??

There are only updates sent out (unless for some reason there is an exception) the second tuesday of the month. So far this month nothing has updated mssecure.xml, so as you said there is no change, nor will there be until something updates that file that sms sus can push out..
