Reports in VB 6

Is there any method of creating reports in VB other than the data environment, or a third party software such as Crystal Reports? For instance could I create a report template with the datareport and feed it an SQL statement at run time?
Any help would be appreciated.

I've only ever used Crsytal Reports (both 7.0 and 8.0) to create dynamic reports. What I do is - create the report off of a stored procedure then allow the user to specify any input parameters (for instance, a date range).

I don't know anything about the datareport but I personally like Crystal as a reporting tool.
