ReportNet Directory Services bug?

Anyone else out there having problem using ReportNet with Directory Services?

We are trying to use Active Directory for security for ReportNet. Worked fine in the development environment, but when we moved to production it seemed Cognos couldn't handle the volume of objects. Cognos Support has told us they've logged a bug, and has admitted that other customers with different Directory Services providers are also having problems.

We're currently testing out using Cognos S7 for security. Very inconvenient as we never really used S7 in the first place. Plus we now have to dump data from our AD, to CSV files, back to Cognos S7. Grrr.

Does anyone else have more information? Or can anyone else at least feel my pain?

Stacy, did you get any info on this subject? I'm researching the use of 3rd party directory servers with Access Manager (how to export/import) and any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

What volume of objects are you talking about? Is this AD 2000 or 2003?

Flex13, we're using AD 2000. I think around 10,000 objects.

Rikki, no progress on the ticket we have open with Cognos. My last update from them was 1/20. We considered loading Access Manager directly from Active Directory, but it was quicker and easier for us to use Batch Maintenance, after pulling user data from our data warehouse into CSVs, since we're hoping this issue will be resolved quickly and we can then just point ReportNet to our Active Directory tree.

Stacybost, can I get the issue number that you have open with Cognos Support? Also, did your dev environment have that kind of user volume as well? There are issues with MS regarding large number of objects so you may be hitting one of these. Check out

Thanks

Thanks flex.

Our case number is 2218111. I don't know the bug number, our WINNT guy has that & he's in training this week, I'll try to get it from Cognos. I'll also forward your link to our WINNT guys, unfortunately this isn't my area of expertise.

Our dev environment did not have that volume of objects. We did try loading a lot of objects in dev, but weren't able to reproduce the problem.
