We are reevaluating our reporting solution. Right now we use
a product called CorVu to pull the data back out of our database and
write reports, but it leaves something to be desired. We are going to be
evaluating crystal reports, Microsoft reporting services, and possibly
other products. What does your company use for reporting? Do you like it
or dislike it? What are some things you wish you had known before you
purchased?

we have been using a great product called Actuate

They don't advertise very much (I have never seen one) but it is easier and much more powerfull than either Crystal or MS..

take a look at
GREAT PRODUCT!!!

Nomadic, was it difficult to set this up in ASP? Would I be able to learn this quickly?

Depending on what you are trying to acheive I would tend to go with asp.net..

Traditional asp requires a good understanding of the request/response model, where as asp.net tends to "hide" alot of that. It is still usefull in some situations to be able to explicitly use the request and response objects, but not as necessary.

Performance of asp.net is much much much better than asp and I think security is much easier to implemet also.

I have one site that has a single page that needs to run sql code under a specific NT account. Every other page uses forms authentication to see if you should be able to use the page and enables features based on roll membership. However the way asp.net works I can have a block of code run under a completely seperate set of permissions (and not just sql ones!!!)

And Asp.Net 2.0 is way way better than asp.net 1.1 which was still light years better that asp.

My 2c
