We are in the planning phase of setting up a Central Site and Primary Child sites. The powers that be want to set up a Reporting Server in the DMZ to access and utilize only the reports from the data collected at Central site. I'm not sure how to do this. Does this server need to be set up as a Secondary site with SMS installed, set up as a reporting point and pointing the URL to the Central Site? Is there any documentation that would help?

Thanks!

The basic way to do this is to add the reporting point role to your DMZ server. However, you will need to open port 1433 through your firewall to allow the DMZ server to query the SQL database on your primary site.

You could get into SQL replication and other such solutions, but those are outside of the COTS SMS product and would be a customized solution.
