We are running Solaris 9 on SUN Fire 280R and the storage we used is Netapps FAS270.

If I run sar -d or iostat, does that give the disk io performance statistics on the netapps filers? If not, what are the devices it's reporting then? I believe we have disk io bottleneck on the filer but sar -d does not reflect that. avwait and avserv seems to be low.

Any NetApps disk utilities I should be using instead?

thanks in advance.

Try sysstat 1 - if your disk read / writes are very high you bottleneck may indeed be the disk subsystem.

Also check out the statit command (you need to set priv to advanced to use this command)

Cheers
