Report Writer Line Height Issue

Hi,

I'm using the foxpro report writer. I need the height of the line to vary based on the height of a memo field. I've got the field on the report. I've set the "Position Relative To" property set to "Top - Field can Stretch". The problem I'm having is that The field will stretch and print the entire field as it needs to, but it won't shrink back down when the field only has one line.

For example, if the memo field for the 1st record in the report only has one line, the report will only print one line. Then the second record has six lines in the memo field. The report prints all six lines of the memo field. The memo field for the third record only has one line. The report continues to print 6 lines - the first line of the record and then 5 blank lines. Does anyone have a way around this?

I've never seen that behavior. Is it possible your memo field has extra returns after the real data?

I've checked the content of the memo fields:

?memlines(Comments)

It returns the correct number.

Just a guess. You might want to examine the end of the memo field for individual CR or LF characters.

How many records do you have in the Table ?


Try this.

Use table1
copy next 3 to temp
appe from temp

then run your report again.

Is the result same for the 4th line ?

Try checking the Print When > Remove Line if Blank option in the memo field on the report.
