We have now moved to Crystal Reports 2011 (as the browser for CR XI won't work with windows server 2008)
I installed CR Server 2011 on the server machine. I installed CR 2011 on my local machine.
I created a new report in CR 2011
When I publish (now called "report upload wizard") a report to the BI launch pad & then login via browser and click on the report I get an error:
The viewer could not process an event. Failed to open the connection. Error code CRWEB00000119

Thanks Andrew database connections are ok. My PC is a 32 bit & the server is a 64 bit. Could this be the issue?

It won't cause a problem in it's own right, it's quite normal to have 32 bit client and 64 bit server.
I assume you've set the password correctly!

Are you using ODBC? If so, you need a 64bit ODBC installed on the server, with the same name as the ODBC on your PC.

If you're not using ODBC, are you sure the driver is supported by 64 bit Windows?

This stuff is a real pain at the moment - Crystal Reports is 32 bit only, while the server is 64 bit only.

One other thing - what happens if you use the new Java Crystal for Enterprise to connect?

Hi Andrew
Thanks so much for your help. I have been on to SAP & they have even logged on to my PC & accessed the server too but they are struggling to come up with a solution.
I have just passed on your suggestion re a 64 bit ODBC. I have also passed on to my IT dept to see if it would cause any issues with other stuff on that server.
My database connections are ok. I have checked numerous times. Right click on the report in CMC & re entered and updated etc.
I haven't paid for CR 2011 yet as I'm on a free 30 day trial.
I was happy to stay with CR XI but we have to move to windows server 2008 & apparently the browser definately not compatiable with that.
With CR XI I installed BOTH the client(CR XI)& erver (CR Server XI) on the server machine & just the CR XI on my PC.
With CR 2011 I was told to install just the CR server 2011 on the server & the CR 2011 on my PC.
So now I publish from my PC whereas before I always published from the server. Could this make an difference?

Can I install CR server 2008 in windows server 2008? Do I need the Crystal reports 2008 client too or can I just use CR XI client or CR 2011 client?

Yes, CRS2008 works fine on Windows Server 2008. Makes sure you get CRS 2008 V1, not V0.
Works on both 64bit and 32bit Windows, you just need to make sure you use the 32 bit ODBC setup rather than 64 bit when creating your DSN.
You can use any version client, but you won't be able to publish directly from Crystal Reports, you'd need to use the publishing wizard, or the web interface. No big deal though. Given the very minor changes in Crystal for the 2011 release, you could just by CR 2008 anyway.

Hi Andrew
If I decide to download CR sever 2008 do I need to delete CR server 2011? Also will CR server 2008 work with Crystal reports client 2011?
If we stick with 2011. SAP have said that yes I need an 64 bit ODBC driver to be installed on the server. Is this something I can download free? Will it cause issues with our Sage database? Will I have to re install CRS 2011 & CR 2011 client?
Thanks
Justine

You can't have the 2 server products installed together. Remove 2011 first, then install CRS2008
You can have both designers installed though.

I don't do much with Sage, but if it's one of the products that needs SAge's own ODBC, I doubt it's available as 64 bit.
