Hi I'm having a problem I'm taking a microcomputer class for college. Well it contains Microsoft Access. I have Office XP Pro. In one of our lessons it says to make a report using report wizard which is easily done ...until I get to the part where it says choose block layout. I don't have this. All I have is columnar, Tubular, and Justified. Also it says to click the summary option box which I also don't have. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

It's entirely possible your instructions refer to an earlier version of Access. However, the options you mention DO appear in the wizard, but may or may not show up depending on the choices you make and/or the nature of the data in your table/query. For instance, if you don't select a grouping level in the 2nd screen of the wizard, the "Block" layout doesn't appear later. Try making some different choices and/or change the data source to examine all the options that are available.

I don't know in which office version those options exist, i have the MS office 97,2k,2k2,2k3 beta2 , all are pro versions (please don't get me wrong) i'm saying this because i went to look in each office version for those otpions and i did not founded, furthermore i'd never saw them.
What they do have is (in hte wizard)
Layout.............Orientation
Columnar...........Portrait
Tabular............Landscape
Justified..........

And a check box option to ajust filds withs to fit...

In sintesis:
1. You are not doing anything wrong, if those options exist are not in the single neither professional versions, what lead us to think that 80% versions does not have (if exist) those option --NOT IN THE WIZARD --

2. If the options exist, doesn't matter at all. Since real reports as well as any most of the access objects MUST be created from the scratch. wizards are just tooooo basically templates.

3. if you are not going to develope in Access use the wizards without those options, wont do better or worse.
If you are going to develope in Access just ignore wizards and learn to do it yourself.

Good luck

Estuardo
