Report template is embedding prompts

We are trying to set up report templates for our power users to use when creating a new report.

We have created a report with various attributes and metrics. The metrics contain a date prompt and the report also contains a report prompt on company.

We then copied this report to the Templates folder so that it now shows as an option when creating a new report (along with “blank report”, etc.).

When a new report is created and this template is chosen, it prompts immediately for the company and date. When it is saved and re-executed it does not re-prompt for either of these and the metrics are now embedded in the report.

We would like to use the template in this manner, but have it re-prompt each time and keep the metrics dynamic. Is there an option to do this?

There is good news and bad news. The good news is I was able to reproduce your problem. The bad news the only way I was able to have it re-prompt everything was to replace the report level prompt with the same prompt.

So when I use the orig report for a template it prompts for all of my values. When it opens in the editor I replace the report level prompt that has been answered with the same prompt and then save selecting "Filter and template will be prompted" on the Save Options dialog
