Has anyone else ran into the issue of all fields returned by the query datasource not showing up under the datasource name in the field explorer? My report is supported by a stored procedure which is running a dynamic sql statment. Using CR9 Dev. and SQL Server 2000.

Any info. is appreciated.

I would think that Crystal would only "see" the fields that were in the SQL statement when you first developed the report, or from the last time you Verified the Database.

In order for the Dynamic SQL to work all the time, you should make sure that it always returns the same fields. If you have made changes to the SP, and they are not refelected inthe report, you should do a Verify Database from the Database menu option in the CR Designer.

Have you tried going to Database>Verify Database. Often when you change a field name of data type in your return dataset Crystal needs to verify the change and then it will display in the field explorer.

Hope that helps.

Yes, I've verified the database. Have you created reports supported by dynamic sql statements within SPs? It seems since the sql statement is dynamic crystal can't tell which fields are available at design time. Does this make sense? Any ideas how to get around this issue?

If the fields change, then Crystal won't connect to it if it's ran directly from within Crystal.

Try supplying technical information:

Crystal version
Database
Example fields attempting to pull

Your question was posed to simply get a yes or no rather than a suggestion on how to accomplish something.

You might even share your SP.
