Report Studio - Properties Question

If I'm in Report Studio and I have the properties set to Page, under Data there is a section called properties. When I click on it, it list query items that are in the report with check marks.

What is this used for?

For one it should give you a handle on how to make Cognos build a new page with every new value of a section or Grouped value.
Suppose you group data by item A. You then associate the query with the page and use the checkmark on that item.
A master-detail relationship between the list and the page should then do the trick..

Isn't Cognos doing this already. I'm not sure how this does anything different than building a page and grouping on values?

The trick is how to get Cognos to assign a new page to each new value of the group or section (If that's the requirement). That is not something it will do by default. (Well, not AFAIK)
