Hi,
In macola, I can search by vendor or by part number but......Is there a way to export a list of all items the a particular vendor sells to us.

For example, I receive a BOM every time we start a new project and it's pretty much the same every time except for minor changes here and there. There are numerous parts on the bom and I would like to export the list of parts into Excel or Crystal with the the Vendor for each part in the next columm (parts may have been purchased by more than 1 vendor in the past, so either most used vendor or last used vendor would be great).

Thanks

It is not clear what you are trying to do. When you say "search for parts by vendor", from what screen do you wish to do this? Are you looking to import the BOM into Macola?

A crystal report to show this info is a snap, andeasily exportable to excel. A Macola search is not quite so simple but doable, and i know of no way to exportthis to excel.

Also what edition of Macola (Progression or ES) and what version are you using? You should never ask a question without providing this information.

Please excuse lack of info. I'm usint Progression.

Under "Purchase order" view, I can search part numbers to find the last vendor used or I can search a specific vendor to find to po's oldest to newest and if I click on each PO, I can see what parts were ordered.

I would like to do aas you mentioned in your 2nd paragraph:
1) list all part #'s in my system along with the last vendor that supplied it.

or

2) List every item that a specified vender every supplied for us.

Ultimately i'd like to export this into excel, but if I copuld get it into crystal that would be fine.

Thanks

I'd prefer option 1.

You could modify a SQL search to do this (I think) but I need to test.

Are you using MS SQL or Pervasive?

Also you STILL did not tell me your version. This could range from 7.0 (10+ years old) to 7.7.200 (very recent).

When I get back to work tomorrow I'll find out which version. It's at least 10 years old. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to sql, but a very quicl learner. I just need a little direction on where to dive in. I've downloaded MySql. Does this work with macola or no?

Thanks

If it is 10 years old you are using Pervasive or maybe even btrieve, not SQL. Is there some reason you have not updated?

I have modified a search in Pervasive/Btrieve 10 years ago, it involves modifying the ddfs and I do not recommend this. I would go the crystal report route.

This is Progression 7.6. When loading, it says "starting progression SQL". Hope this helps.

Also, I do have Pervasive SQL V8 installed.

That version is incomplete. Click on help about progression or help progression information. The full version will be 7 or 8 characters in this format: 7.6.100

OK You are using SQL and this is no where near 10 years old. I would modify a search to do what you want on that screen, but telling you how to do this goes beyond what I am willing to do on this forum - it would be like writing a book. You should ask Exact or your reseller how to do this, it would take an hour max.
