Is there a way in p9 to save a report as an icon so that you can click on it and start the report w/o having to

FILE > OPEN > REPORT

etc.....

?

As you can tell...I'm not a programmer...just an interactive user...

DLDavis,

You mean on your Windows Desktop? Sure:

1. Copy your current Paradox shortcut to the Clipboard.

2. Paste it on your Windows Desktop. Make sure you choose Paste, not Paste Shortcut.

3. Right-click the new shortcut and then choose properties.

4. In the box called Target, add the fully qualified pathname of your report. For example:

C:\Program Files\Corel\Shared\samples\customer.rsl

5. Choose OK.

That's the basic outline. For best results, make sure you specify an alias when you add tables to the data model or use the -w command-line option to set the working directory.

For more information on -w and other command-line options, please see
Hope this helps...

No, not within windows....within p9. For example...when I'm using a form to add records..I'd like to be able to click an icon to run a report on the data...a report that is already saved to the hard disk. I don't understand Querries well enough to benefit from them. I use reports instead...and filter them prior to execution.

Open the project viewer under 'tools'. Click the 'reports' button on the left side. All reports saved in the working directory will be displayed. If the report you saved is not in the working directory (I'm assuming you don't use aliases), then you will need to set the working directory properly by going to File->Working Directory, browsing to wherever you saved the report, then setting that as the working directory.

Mac :)
