Report creation without RDC

Is it possible to create and/or amend a report without using the RDC
- issue is (I believe) the RDC is an extra licensing cost
- I want to provide "quality reports" for our users, but there are a fair number of them, and at $199 a licence, there's is no way I can persuade the management to pay
- the sort of reports are fairly basic, pick fields, sort by and maybe group by, anymore than this and we can justify other options, but it'd be nice to give the basic users something Cheers,

You can use parameters to give the users a lot of modification capability - use params for sorting, grouping and field values. You can use parameters to set colours and some conditional formatting.
Bit messy, it depends how much you want to be able to do.
