this is probably the millionth time i have gone down this road to look deeper into replication, but i am giving it another go. My database is working well, with no problems at all; but its lack of use is down to that it runs on a server, and people done want to dial up went working remotely or in differnt countries where the line is bad. So - i figure i shoudl set up a small demo environment to see how good / bad replication is and the pit falls etc. can anyone offer me any start up advise as to how far i can take this before its going to be too much, etc or the best and easiest way to get started. any help is appreciated. Apologies for those who have heard this before, but i really need to nail this now.

Many thanks Thank you for your help already.

Well - after a couple fo quick tests, i have managed to get things going. BUt i have a few questions that i need answering, that concern me regarding my situ:

1: Do all replicas have to synchronise at the same time?

2: What happens if people synchronise at different times, but there is a cross over point at which they are both trying at the same time? Does it crash, or can the master handle this?

3: WOuld it be better to upgrade to 2000 to begin this, or will 97 be ok? and if i move into 2000, do all users have to do the same. And vice versa, if i continue with 97, and they have 2000 - what happens to the master upon replication. will it crash it?

thanks again Thank you for your help already.

I abandoned replication with Access97 when we had nightmares just replicating the db between two offices. Don't know if 2000 is any smoother...haven't had the need (or guts) to try it out.

Good luck.

just what i thought. I have offices all over the world, and people dialling in from all over the world so your information does not thrill me with positive thoughts. Thanks for the info though, as the reason i have not done it before was to not risk a crash or data loss. Thank you for your help already.
